Ashfield Nursery, Harrogate, West Riding of Yorkshire

In about 1945, a nursery was opened by the National Children's Home (NCH) at a house called Ashfield on Yew Tree Road, Harrogate.

The nursery closed in around 1952, and its role taken on by another NCH nursery located nearby at Barton House.

The property no longer exists and Yew Tree Gardens now covers the site.

Note: many repositories impose a closure period of up to 100 years for records identifying individuals.

  • Action For Children (formerly the National Children's Home) can provide access to care records for people who were adopted through the charity or who resided in one of its homes. Currently this service is only available to the individuals concerned and not to the descendents of deceased former residents.
