Christiana Hartley Maternity Home, Colne, Lancashire
The Christiana Hartley Maternity Home was opened in 1927 on Barrowford Road, Colne. The premises had previously housed the Colne Jubilee Cottage Hospital, built 1899-1900 to designs by H. Holgate. The conversion was funded by a £1000 donation from Christiana Hartley, a Southport Justice of the Peace, and daughter of Sir William Pickles Hartley and Lady Hartley of Colne.
The home closed in 1969 and the building is now in private residential use.
